Omaha High / Low

Omaha High / Low Strategy & Tips

Playing solely for the highest hand winner in Omaha High/Low is a valid strategy in itself (see Omaha Hi strategy), indeed grasping the High/Low concept can be quite a chore at first whist in the game. Like all other strategies you will find yourself learning more efficiently whilst actually playing with Littlewoods. However the high/low split feature of Omaha High/Low makes it a very different game and, of course, there are things to remember in order to take advantage of this.

It can seem very beneficial that there can be two winners in Omaha High/Low and indeed it is because you have two chances of winning. However you must remember that there is a big difference between winning half a pot and winning the entire pot. Winning a whole pot is as beneficial as winning it in any poker game, but winning a half pot will only give you a small amount more than when you started the hand (if there are only two of you; you simply get your money back). Is it really worth the risk paying all the way through to the showdown for just half of the pot? It is certainly temping to do this given the fact that you now have two chances of winning rather than one. It is important to remember that even if you have a reasonable low hand and a reasonable high hand you can still get beaten on both. For this reason, if after the flop you do not have a strong chance of winning one or the other you may consider folding your cards.

Summary

These are basic tips to remember but Omaha High/Low is mainly about playing in your own way confidently. Play and learn the game with confidence with Littlewoods Poker.
