The Caribbean Poker Classic Review - Day One

LittlewoodsPoker.com has travelled thousands of miles to participate in the Caribbean Poker Classic 2007 held in the beautiful Caribbean island of St Kitts. If ever a place was intended to be the mould for paradise then St Kitts and the Kittitain people are at the very top of the list. Endless white sand beaches, palm tress, temperatures that only people back in the UK can dream of during December and vats of rum punch are the order of the day - every day - in this, one of the most breathtaking locations on earth.

The trip got underway with the expected long flight from London to Antigua with a hop skip and a jump on a rather old fashioned plane to St Kitts. As you can imagine, with more than 200 poker players and accompanying guests the atmosphere on the plane was a mixture of anticipation and excitement. Of course, as one would expect, there were card games being played on almost every aisle of the plane - and if rumours are to be taken at face value - some pretty high stakes Chinese card games between the bigger online names.

Checking in hundreds of people into one resort may have caused some event managers to squirm but the check in process for the CPC07 was an enjoyable and well oiled process. Littlewoodspoker.com qualifiers were greeted by LittlewoodsPoker.com staff and had a chance for a quick chat before being taken to their luxurious rooms which would act as their HQ for the remainder of the event.

After a quick shower and a wander around the resort the players congregated in the resort for the Caribbean Poker Classic launch party. The LittlewoodsPoker.com team had a stall which acted as a central meeting point for all the players in the group. Every player had the opportunity to grab a few beers with each other and generally just relax and enjoy the surroundings. Every player was given a LittlewoodsPoker.com goodie bag filled with t-shirts, caps and a host of other things to make them feel special and part of one of the most successful poker sites at the event. The hospitality of the Kittitain people was immense - as a wonderful steel band played Christmas carols - the buffet got underway and the players really started to feel at home. LittlewoodsPoker.com’s sponsored player, football legend Tony Cascarino, was there to chat with the online qualifiers and of course talk poker!

As you can see from the videos we’re posting, the launch party was a great success and a well deserved prelude to the super satellites that followed. That’s perhaps one of the most exciting things about the LittlewoodsPoker.com trip to St. Kitts - the chance for players who haven’t yet won a seat to try the super satellites. As you’d expect at an event of this calibre the players were soon chirping chips and involved in some fast and loose action that went on until the sun came up!

The first day was a fabulous start to the event, which promises to be one of the most exciting poker events of the year.
