The Beautiful Game

They might protest that Euro 2008, which kicks off next Saturday, will be much poorer for the home nations’ absence, but are those crocodile tears being wept by the Germans, Croats, Portuguese and supporters of several other countries besides? One thing is certain: no-one appears prepared to give up their place in return for some British involvement in Austria and Switzerland.

So if the prospect of watching Austria play Croatia or Greece take on Sweden fails to press all of your buttons, how about taking part in our own poker version of the “Beautiful Game”?

We’ve designed it to coincide with Euro 2008, which means it comes with group qualifying stages, quarter and semi finals and of course, a final. Win this and you could be off to the Caribbean Poker Classic (CPC) in November.

Our ‘Beautiful Game’ group stages run from 7th June: to make it through to the quarters, you must finish as one of your group’s top 50 MPP earners.

We appreciate that some nations may fancy having the Brits at Euro 2008, but that’s only because they feel they would beat us. In the meantime, get signed up for our alternative leaderboard style competition (you won’t miss any football either, as our Euro 2008 guide shows) In the meantime, it’s “C’mon you, er, Poles?”
