Abi Titmuss to raise the stakes

Famous and attractive celebrities are no strangers to the poker tables with the likes of Shannon Elizabeth and Jennifer Tilly forging flourishing poker careers. Now it seems there is a female celebrity from this side of the pond coming through.

Model, actress and bona fide hottie Abi Titmuss has decided to take time out from her burgeoning acting career, and generally raising the pulses of the UK male population, by taking part in Europe’s biggest female annual poker event - the European Ladies Championship.

The self-confessed ‘bad’ girl and 100 Sexiest Women readers poll regular, who shot into the spotlight for her relationship with TV presenter John Leslie, already has plenty of strings to her bow but now is looking forward to possibly adding another as she swaps the boards for the baize for next month’s showpiece ladies event.

After a spell of learning the game, Titmuss is quick to downplay her chances of landing the title but is clearly excited about taking part in the tournament.

“I’ve been playing quite a bit of poker over the past few months and enjoy being a woman playing in what is predominately seen as a man’s game,” she said.

“The fact that women-only tournaments like the European Ladies Championship have been so successful proves that times are changing. I’m delighted to be involved but I think the prize money is safe!”

This is the third running of the ELC and 50 of Europe’s finest will come together for the two-day event to try and take home the ‘European Champion’ title - won last year by Jackie Meecham of Leytonstone.
