You only have a few days remaining to make your application to become a volunteer State Director for the Poker Players Alliance (PPA). If the prospect of mobilising grass-roots support from fellow poker-players doesn’t fill you with glee, there are some compensations for “defending the great game of poker” as the PPA puts it, rather too dramatically.
For example, you will receive training from “grassroots professionals” (whatever they are) who will “teach you grassroots tactics” (see above) and “share ideas”; we presume about poker. Other activities include recruiting new PPA members, organising PPA events and “arranging meetings between poker players and elected officials.”
But wait! What’s that other rather seductive-looking benefit?
According to a press release issued by the PPA, the organisation’s State Directors “will also receive access to special events planned for the 2008 World Series of Poker”. No mention of a seat, but hey, if you happened to be there, what’s to stop you trying?
Online applications must be made by next Monday; there is one potential drawback – US residency is preferred. However, that’s not to say a UK version of the PPA couldn’t be established by some enterprising individuals…
