So, you arrive on the poker scene with a bang, performing well enough in successive WSOP tournaments to raise your international profile. Established pros praise your play, online opponents fear your reputation, you begin to win regularly – so what next? Why not teach your wife how to play?

ClintonO is a name well known in these parts, but he was a little red-faced when his wife Rachael, a lady who has been receiving poker tuition from him for just six months, managed to out-fox her husband during a 0 + No Limit Hold ‘Em event at last week’s Caribbean Poker Classic.

In only her second live game, Rachael managed a very credible eighth-placed finish (from 131 starters), for which she collected a cheque for ,150. Her old man, meanwhile, was described as being ‘gutted’ after finishing one place below her and trousering 0. Well, he would be, wouldn’t he?

But pride is a fantastic spur and in the following day’s 0 + NLHE event, Clinton romped to victory and an ,000 pay-day. He remained a tad coy about his defeat by the missus however, preferring to focus on how he had managed to bounce back and destroy the field in the second event; but we fancy that when he’s back home, he might receive the occasional reminder about how Rachael trumped him at the CPC. Furthermore, if she’s only been playing for six months, Clinton had better stay on top of his game…
