Littlewoods’ Tony Cascarino says he’s looking forward to playing in more tournaments next year as he believes such competitions contribute enormously to improving any player’s game.
“I reached a point during the middle of 2007 when I realised I was being a wee bit too structured in my approach to poker games,” said the football legend. “My mental attitude had become far too rigid and it was affecting my table performance, at least until I played in the EPT event in London. I was unhappy with my play in the Barcelona EPT as I felt I could have done much better, so I decided to overhaul my style of play and go into tournaments with a much more open-minded attitude.”
The big man was too modest to point out that he was moved to three different tables inside 90 minutes at Barcelona, hardly the ideal scenario for going deep at any event, but he shrugs that off as being part of the game: “You can’t complain, can you? You just have to accept it and get on with playing.”
In an exclusive article coming soon, Tony explains what pleased him most about his poker during the year and what disappointed him. He also reveals precisely why he’s always had great affection for Galway and a drop of the Black Stuff and why Aston Villa can no longer sack him.
