Poker fans in March, Cambridge, may soon be able to indulge their hobby in public if the plans outlined by the new owners of town’s Hippodrome theatre come to fruition, although there may be a musical catch.
First of all, the venue must obtain a gaming licence, but should this prove successful, then the current bingo offerings will be supplemented by poker and casino nights.
It has to be said that there are a lot of big plans being announced by the new owners, Mark and Peter Petrou, but if even half of them come true, March could become the Fens’ equivalent of Vegas…
Plans to extend the opening hours to cater for early morning trade and the addition of Sky Sports for live football action sound acceptable, but what’s this about music? Apparently, the new owners are keen to bring in a succession of tribute bands to March and unfortunately, one of the first group of artistes they’re looking to book is a Bon Jovi tribute act.
It can only be hoped that the new management duo are merely “Living On A Prayer” with their expectations of adding tribute bands to their venue’s line-up, but at least there is a reason for the poker players of March to “Keep The Faith” that a new poker night will be coming to their area soon. Nevertheless, if ever there was a great reason for playing online…
