Music channel MTV continues its search for the stars – people who wish to feature in a forthcoming episode of “True Life Chronicles”. If you’ve never seen it, the show highlights the occasionally odd and certainly unusual lifestyles of young people aged between 18-28. Online poker players with a tale to tell are much in demand.
The show’s producers have specifically asked for individuals who lead interesting and unique lives away from the tables to get in touch; it seems reasonable to assume that the channel is looking for those whose day entails a bit more than flipping burgers.
In order to help wannabe ‘True Life’ stars, we’ve assembled some ideas of what we suspect MTV are probably searching for…
1. You’ll need to be good looking, but don’t rely on your own opinion when assessing this feature. Unless you’ve been told you’re a looker at least half a dozen times since leaving school, don’t waste time making an application, otherwise the producers may want you on TV simply to make fun of you.
2. You need to be gainfully employed doing something other than stamping dockets in a bank. Running a business which you set up at the age of 14 and which now boasts and annual turnover in excess of £3 million is a good start.
3. Character-wise, you will almost certainly have one foible which will be of interest to viewers. Keeping goal in your local five-a-side league or an ability to drink ten pints within an hour probably won’t do you much good. Transvestism is currently deemed to be interesting: look what it’s done for Grayson Perry’s career.
4. Finally, you’ll need to know the difference between a score, a yard and a monkey and, of course, how to play online poker well. Oh, and you’ll need to be able to describe just how well in a Michael Caine-style voice.
