The Phi Ivey Stepup poker trick, so-called after the successful American poker pro, involves pulling poker chips from a stack and restacking them with the same hand and without the chips touching the table. Phil Ivey can be seen performing this trick at professional poker tournaments.

To begin, you will need a large stack of chips; about twenty is ideal. Take the chip stack in your hand with your fingers in the following positions: your middle finger at 11 o’clock, your small finger at 5 o’clock, your thumb at 9 o’clock and your ring finger at 2 o’clock. Take the top four chips from the top of the stack and hold them with your middle finger, ring finger and small finger. Move these chips to the right and hold them as if you are about to put them down. Now use your thumb and index finger to pick up four more chips and move them onto the stack you are holding with your other fingers. Move this stack back to the rest of the poker chips and continue to repeat the process, thereby building up the chips on the pile.

Put some practice in and then have a go at this poker trick the next time you play poker to look like a Phil Ivey style pro!
