by Simon Dexter Thursday, March 6th, 2008

The broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has announced plans to reclassify gaming-related channels, currently deemed to be editorially-related platforms, and place them in the same category as teleshopping and advertising. That’s right – Ofcom’s proposals would consider poker to be more closely related to shopping channels where the discerning viewer can buy anything from a must-have ‘gold’ necklace for under a tenner to say, one of the sports channels where bog snorkelling represents a prime-time offering.
