Developing a Table Image

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Hi.

I’ve been told that the best type of table image is one that constantly changes. On the basis that table image is about your play and is analysed by your opponents, is it not better to develop one image (super-tight?) and stick with it?

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Book Review: Make a Million from Online Poker, by Nigel Goldman

Online poker has, in the space of less than a decade, become a global phenomenon; every year, it is estimated that players compete for a total of £20 billion in prize money, an astonishing sum which is likely to get much bigger.

How playing poker can help you win the girl (or boy)

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 28th, 2008

If you were to think about the impact that poker may have had upon your relationships, it might be possible to recall a few instances where the amount of time you spend playing with your mates or playing online has caused a partner to utter a few disapproving words. If this sounds like a scenario with which you’re occasionally familiar, then Tim Howard’s latest book, “The Underground Economist” is probably worth a read.

It’s only a game…

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Most of us have a variety of reasons for playing poker, be it to win packages such as the one described above, for some serious cash or, whisper it, just for fun.

While some people take the game very seriously indeed, let’s hope that we don’t replicate recent events in Florida where a 28 year-old man has been charged with the murder of three people who he believed had been cheating during a private game of poker they were playing.

Due a vacation? Try Vegas – on us!

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 28th, 2008

You can’t keep a good guy down. Ask Clinton Orchard, the Littlewoods Poker player of the month for January, he managed to bag our first ,000 Vegas Vacation package in February and will be jetting off to the city’s Rio All Suites Hotel & Casino at the beginning of July. Bikers play a winning hand

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 28th, 2008

During the late 1950s and early 60s, many Americans were haunted by the prospect of marauding bikers racing through their well-kept towns, upsetting the locals and generally behaving well, badly. A similar sense of dread consumed some stuffier Britons when Mods and Rockers arrived on the scene in the early sixties. They could be found bombing down to Brighton and other seaside resorts every Bank Holiday, ostensibly in search of a good day out and a compulsory ruck.

Dialing up to play online

by Simon Dexter Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Hi,
I’m going to be moving to a remote area of Britain in a few months and have been advised that it doesn’t yet have broadband! I understand it should be upgraded late this year, but my question is, will I be able to access Littlewoods Poker via a dial-up connection?
MS
(Soon to be isolated)

MS,
Well, moving for some peace and quiet is no bad thing and you’ll be delighted to hear that yes, you will be able to play online with us via a dial-up connection. We’re told that poker sites require very little bandwidth because the random number stuff is done on the server’s side. This means all that’s being transmitted up and down the line is what cards you have and how many chips you’ve bet.
